“I was recommended to “Any Little Thing” by a friend as I was in need of help with my elderly mum. Unfortunately they didn’t specialise in personal care - which is something I needed for my mum, but what they did offer was a consultation service - run by Lucy the co-owner.  This is something I would highly recommend if you are feeling overwhelmed and about to embark on caring for a loved one.

Lucy’s knowledge of the caring process was so helpful and knowledgeable that it really helped me and mum make informed decisions. Lucy is calm, kind, patient and very caring; I am extremely grateful for all her help. Having someone at the end of the phone or email gave me confidence to carry on at this very difficult time.

The Autumn Years, a self-help guide to finding the right care for an elderly loved one by Lucy Piper

“I found this book at a time when my husband and I were very stressed and at a loss of what to do about my mother-in-law with dementia and how to keep her safe.

This book helped us to put ourselves in my mother-in-laws shoes and understand her more. It really highlighted some common worries of ours and had sections to note down our top concerns and as we did this as a couple we realised we had different concerns. It gave us a focus for the meetings we set up with social services and making a plan going forward.

It had extremely useful links to sites regarding financial eligibility and what we may be entitled to. Choosing a home for a loved one is an emotional decision and Autumn Years included a checklist to help us know what to look out for and what should be included in a care plan.

This meant my husband and daughters could relax knowing they were doing the best for their mum and grandmother and could focus on spending quality time with her making more memories to cherish.

I highly recommend this book and Lucy as she is very knowledgeable in all things related to the elderly."
